Signs you have termites
- Thin mud tubes on walls, skirting or foundation
- Wood that sounds hollow when tapped, or paint that bubbles
- Discarded wings near windows after the first monsoon rain
- Damaged books, cardboard or plywood in cupboards
Pune's red and black soils and long monsoon keep subterranean termites active for most of the year. Most homes here are RCC, but the wood is in door frames, modular kitchens and wardrobes, which is where infestations do the most damage.
How we treat termites
Inspection
We trace mud tubes and moisture points and mark the entry routes on a simple floor sketch.
Drill-fill-seal
Small holes are drilled along the wall-floor junction, filled with a registered termiticide to create a soil barrier, then sealed with white cement.
Wood treatment
Infested frames and furniture are injected or brushed so active colonies inside the wood are reached.
Follow-up
We re-inspect after treatment and during the warranty period, and re-treat at no extra cost if activity returns.
Is it safe for my family?
Our safety approach. Termite work is the one place where herbal products are not strong enough to protect a building, so we use low-toxicity, CIB&RC-registered termiticides. They go into the soil and wood, not into the air, and the holes are sealed. You can stay at home; we ask that children and pets stay out of the room while drilling.
Every product we use is registered with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC), and our technicians are trained by NIPHM. Read more about our human-safe pest control and organic pest control methods.
How to prevent termites coming back
- Fix leaking taps and damp walls; termites need moisture
- Keep firewood, cartons and old furniture off the floor and away from walls
- Leave a gap between wooden furniture and damp walls
- Book an anti-termite treatment before laying flooring in a new flat
Termite control: frequently asked questions
How long does anti-termite treatment last?
A properly done post-construction drill-fill-seal treatment typically protects for several years. We give a written service warranty with every termite job and re-inspect during that period.
Do you do pre-construction anti-termite treatment?
Yes. For new buildings and bungalows in Pune we treat the foundation trenches, plinth and soil under the floor before construction continues, which is far cheaper than treating later.
Do I need to vacate the flat?
No. Termite treatment is applied to the soil and wood and the holes are sealed. Most families stay at home; we only ask you to keep children and pets out of the room we are working in.
